Are you a counsellor, clinician or GP working with people who have difficulties with:

  • alcohol or other drugs
  • mental health
  • or both?

If so, the research shows that it is likely there may be underlying issues with gambling.
To improve effectiveness in detecting risky gambling behaviours, we offer this FREE self-directed gambling screening course. 

In this course we will explore the relationship between problem gambling, substance use and mental health concerns.  We identify the groups most at-risk and introduce a screening tool, and practice based strategies to support clients to make changes.

Objectives

During this course you will learn about:

  • The latest research on gambling concerns including the impact of COVID-19, youth participation, and how gambling affects the brain
  • The relationship between gambling, substance use and mental health concerns
  • The screening tool - the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI)
  • Brief interventions if a gambling problem is identified, and where to access specialised support.
